Editorial Policy  

Bangladesh Journal of Administration and Management, published by BCS Administration Academy, Shahbag, Dhaka, is a half yearly journal that publishes research based analytical and informative articles of different administration and management related issues. Broad fields on which the articles to be published in the journal:

Once an article has been accepted for publication, it can’t be withdrawn without the Editor’s approval.

Authorship: Authors must fulfill the criteria described below, specifically; contributions should be one or more of the following:

1. Formulation of idea, theory and prediction
2. Analysis and/or interpretation of data
3. Policy analysis, interpretation and recommendation
4. Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content

  Ghost authorship is not permitted. Other individuals who don’t meet the criteria for authorship should be listed in the acknowledgement with a brief indication of the nature of their contribution. Authors are jointly responsible for their content. Credit for the content and responsibility for errors or fraud are borne equally by all authors. A separate cover sheet mentioning the author’s full name, workplace information, phone/fax number, mailing address and current e-mail address and mobile number must be submitted with the article.

Reviewers:  Manuscripts submitted are first screened by the editors; those on subject matters within the scope of the Journal are sent to an expert referee for evaluation and may be sent to a second reviewer if necessary.   The editors seek reviewers who do not have conflicts of interest with the authors.  In addition, reviewers are required to disclose any previously an unreported conflict with the evaluation of the paper, and this information is taken into account by the editors when decisions are made. Reviewers are asked to return comments within 2 to 3 weeks. 

Research Articles: Article should be organized generally into the following sections:  an abstract must be written.

         1.  An introduction

1.1Statement of the problem, 1.2 Significance of the study, 1.3 Scope of the study, 1.4 Objective of the study, and limitation (if any)

       2.0Methodology, 3.Results or data analysis, 4. Discussion, 5.Conclusion and  recommendation.  Problem statement, objectives and methodology should be well defined and self explanatory. This format may vary from discipline to discipline.

Content: Submitted manuscript needs to meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Contains research that makes a significant advance in contemporary administration and management
• New research that influences the direction of the development strategy
• Develops innovative idea, technology or policy to meet the social problems
• Presents managerial advances to modern problems across multiple disciplines, or
•  Research that enables real world applications.

Font:  Acceptable font is “Times New Roman” font style “Normal”.

Font size:  Title - 13, Abstract- 10, Keyword &Acknowledgement : 10 Heading-12 Bold

Subheading- 11 Bold, Main body- 11, Table & Figure title: 11, Inside Table-10, Source: 10, Reference: 10, Page No. 10

Spacing: Line spacing in a paragraph should be single, Normal. Between the paragraph indent-.3

Tables and figures:  All tables, figures, graphs and charts are numbered consecutively with appropriate headings.

Language: The language of the manuscript must be written in British standard. Manuscripts below the standard for the Journal will be returned to the authors for rewriting and may be rejected for this reason alone.

Length of paper: The total length of the paper should be limited within 4500 words including tables, figures, references and appendices (if any). Paper containing more than 4500 words will be returned to the author(s) to abridge. Articles should be typed in double-space (including footnotes and references) on one side of the paper only (preferably A4) with wide margins. Authors are urged to write as concisely as possible, but not at the expense of clarity.

Title Page: The title page should include: (i)The name(s) of the author(s) (ii) A concise and informative title (iii)The affiliation(s) and address (es) of the author(s) (iv)The e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers of the corresponding author

Abstract: Please provide an abstract of 150 to 200 words. The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references.

 Keywords: Please provide 4 to 6 keywords which can be used for indexing purposes.

Acknowledgement: The author may use acknowledgement section in the title page of the paper (if any).

Subdivision of the article: Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2), 1.2, etc. The abstract is not included in section numbering.

Table and Figures: Present tables and figures within the article, not at the end of the article. Please note that the article will be published in black and white (print), although online version will contain the colorful figures (if any). However, the color print will be available in extreme cases as per the request of the author.

References: Author-Date citation system of Chicago Manuel of Style should be followed. For guidance, please visit www.chicagomanuelofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html

Citations in the text: Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Avoid citation in the abstract. Unpublished results and personal communications should not be in the reference list, but may be mentioned in the text. Citation of a reference as 'in press' implies that the item has been accepted for publication.

 Copyright and License:  While submitting the manuscript the author must declare that it has not published or submitted to any other journal. The publisher has exclusive rights to use and authorize use of the author’s contribution. The authors retain copyright as well.

Embargo: Submitted and accepted papers must remain privileged documents and must not be released to the press or the public before publication.

Printed copy:  Three printed copies of the articles should be submitted in one side of the A4 size paper with double space and 2 inches margin on top and one inch on bottom, right and left side along with a compact disc containing the soft copy of the article. Two copies will be used for review so these copies must not have any author’s name. 

Published paper: Three copies of the published paper will be given at free of cost to the author.
